| Poland is a country quite nearby, that allows you a complete change of
scenery. We propose you a one week trip into a completely other age, in
the beautiful region of the polish Sudetes, where time seems to have stopped.
In this region, which has kept a strong equestrian tradition, you can
ride for hours in the pure snow without coming about other traces than
those of roar deer and other small game, very abondant. Sometimes, we
even have the occasion to race them.
In the evenings, we will arrive in snow covered villages where we will
be welcomed in farm guest-houses by a nice, typical polish dinner, prepared
by our hostess and a soft bed, greatly appreciated after a shower.
During these five days, time will seem to have stood still in another
era. Magnificent landscapes without any barriers, a muffled atmosphere
will make us dream and give us some difficulties to come back to reality. |

ITINERARY
Day 1 - Saturday : Flight to Prague
Arrival in Prague, the capital of
the Czech Republic. Transfer by your own means (many taxis)
to the hotel, where you will join the rest of the group. Meeting
of the other participants at the hotel, followed by a walk
into Prague by night.
Dinner individually or with the group, at your own choice
(not included).
Prague is a capital of baroque and flamboyant style, with
numerous buildings listed in the world heritage sites of the
UNESCO. Do not fail to go to the grand place in the historical
town center and to have a walk in the lanes with pastel coloured
houses, pass over the Vlatva on the St. Charles bridge or
visit the castel of Prague.
Night at the hotel.
Day 2 - Sunday : Prague - Poland
After breakfast, our minibus will fetch you at the hotel.
During the morning we will have a quick visit of Prague :
town center, castle,...
Afterwards we will take the road for Poland and the Sudetes.
The trip will take about 3 hours, nicely cut by a lunch break
in a restaurant. In the afternoon we will arrive at the riding
centre, get ourselves moved in and have dinner.
Day 3 to day 7 - from Monday to Friday : Horse-riding trail
in the Sudetes
5 days of a horse-riding trail in fabulous landscapes, climbing
up to mountain passes, discovering castles and typical villages
of this region. As for all winter trails, the itinerary can
be modified depending on meteorological conditions and snow.
That is the reason why we cannot give in advance a detailed
itinerary.
Nevertheless we can assure you, that you will live an intense
week on horseback, as well for the rythm and the distances
covered on some days, as for the races that we enjoy behind
game : fox, rabbits, roe deer, hinds and stags.
Day 8 - Saturday : Jelenia Gora
Having become pedestrians again, this last day in Poland will
be the occasion to visit Jelenia Gora, the "capital of
the Sudetes". You will discover its market place, coloured
arcades and craft-shops. Lunch in the town and in the afternoon
we return to our riding centre for dinner and overnight.
Day 9 - Sunday : Jelenia Gora - Prague
Back on the road for Prague, where we arrive around midday.
Transfer to the airport for those who leave by plane that
day, the others continue their individual stay in Prague.
This itinerary is indicative, your guide, who perfectly knows this area,
may change itinerary for weather or group safety reasons.
EXTEND YOUR TRIP
 |
Take advantage of already being in Prague to extend your stay for one
or more nights at the end of the trail in a 3, 4 or 5* hotel (local standards,
take off one * to obtain international standard).
We suggest to add one or more nights (on a B&B basis) and to visit
this fascinating town in an individual way. In this case the transfer
to the airport on the last day of your trip is not organised. |
HORSES AND REQUIRED RIDING LEVEL

Attention : Non smoking trail!
On this trail we ride on Silesian horses, a local, sturdy breed of german
origin that has been interbreeded with horses formerly used in the fields
and mixed with english or arab thorough-bred.
The result is an excellent trail horse, sturdy but endurant.
Riders should be confident at all gaits and able to keep up with a lively
rythm for 5 to 8 hours per day, depending on the itineraries.
The rude climate and the snow make this ride harder than a trail in a
more tempered environment. It is a really nice experience, but we recommend
it only to well experienced riders.
You will be asked to brush your horse, as well as to saddle and to unsaddle
it.
YOUR GUIDES
The trail is guided by Bernard, an excellent French guide of Polish
origins. He knows the country, its inhabitants and language perfectly.
His knowledge of the country and his long experience on horse trails
grant you the best possible conditions.

ACCOMMODATION
Accomodation is provided in local hotels or agro-touristical farm-houses
as we will ride in wild landscapes, sometimes far from civilization. This
will also be the opportunity to better know polish people.
All accomodations provide a shower.
Accomodation is on a shared double room basis. Individual rooms can only
be booked for the first night in Prague and reservation for it must be
made at the same time as suscription for the ride.
Concerning food, lunch will be transported in the saddle bags and and
taken around a fire that will not only heat up the food but the riders
as well. Dinner will be taken in restaurants or guest-houses. Polish cooking
is copious (lots of potatoes) and you will discover some specialties as
the Bigos, the polish sauerkraut.
