WESTERN HORSE RIDING STYLE AND WORKING RIDES |

Western horse riding style and traditional working saddles
The western horse riding style is adapted by definition to the long rides in varied environments : saddlery which distributes harmoniously the weight of the rider and its equipment on the back of the horse, comfortable for the frame as for his rider, the light contact and the long reins... It is thus quite naturally that it found its place in the world of the trail ride.
Naturally, you will find this type of tack in the ranches of North America and the South, where we practise another working horse riding (see below), but some of our rides, in sometimes surprising destinations, use a western harness, McLellan or stemming from various iberian equitation of work or from South America...
It is immediately the symbolic image from the cowboy of the Montana who comes to the spirit, and beside him you can learn to sort out the cattle, to move the herds, to introduce you to the manipulation of the lasso and to the ethological equitation of "natural horsemanship" in the lineage of the film " The man who murmured to the horses' ear".
But it is all the American continent which is the territory of vaqueros, and the gauchoes of South America are not less famous. A stay in the estancias of Argentina is the occasion to share their daily work in the immense spaces of Patagonia with - it is necessary to say it - much more freedom than in the USA.
The gauchoes traditions are always alive and very different from a country in the other one, to the point that even their name changes : you will discover it during our ride in Uruguay, but also by going to meet chagras of Ecuador (in certain dates, you can participate in the cattle drive), or peoes which work in the fazendas of Brazil. Even more surprising, in Kenya, you will stay in a ranch which brings up more than 2000 heads of cattle on a totally wild territory and even if you will not really practice the working equitation, you will discover how your guide manages the fragile balance between cattle and big games !
Closer to us, Iceland also knows of big round up in September, when the Icelandic farmers group together them herds of horses and sheeps before bringing in them for winter.
In Mongolia and Kirghizstan finally, the nomads guide from time immemorial their herds on the steppes of the Silk route and to meet them is always a real trip in the time.
